First Annual Hang Up ‘N Drive Day

We are asking local businesses to donate money, gift cards, and raffle items in order to kick off this first Hang Up N Drive Day event for HANG UP ‘N DRIVE. We hope that through public awareness we will be able to promote safer driving habits among the public. Through the support of the community we are hoping to help families in need where a family member has been injured or killed because of an accident caused by a cell phone distraction.

The primary focus of the event is the teen driving course that will be set up for teens to drive first with no distractions, a second time with instructors speaking to them on their cell phones while they are driving through the course and a third time with instructors testing with them while they are driving through the course. The course will be made up of traffic cones with replicas of people sticking out of the top of the traffic cones. The purpose of this teen driving course is to show the teen drivers how many people that they would kill when they are driving distracted by talking on their cell phone or texting on their cell phone.

Everything else at this event is designed to;

1. Make the event appealing to teenagers so that they will want to be there
2. Raise funds for Hang Up ‘N Drive to be able to help people and families who have been negatively affected by a loved one who was injured in an automobile accident that was the result of a cell phone distraction.
